Ballard-Garman family letters, 1833-1889.

The collection contains letters received by Aaron Ballard, his daughter Catherine (Kate), and her husband, George W. Garman. Letters to Aaron Ballard were mostly from relatives in Franklin County, Virginia and are primarily about family topics and local news. Kate's letters are mostly from Union soldiers stationed in Indiana regiments in Kentucky and Tennessee. George Garman's letters are related to land in Tennessee and Iowa. There are also letters from his brothers, Daniel R. Garman and John J. Jackson. There is also a typewritten manuscript by James B. Cash entitled American Connections Through War and Peace.
